Hey guys! I'm Rachel Wang. I am an international student from Nanjing, China. I am a freshman and major in Pre-BBA. Mandarin Chinese is my first language and I also speak Nanjing Hua as a dialect in my hometown. My second language is English and I am currently learning French in Emory University. On this website, I post my work of topics relevant to multilingualism. As one who is multilingual, I share my experience of learning English as a second language and describe how typical Chinese way of teaching influence my learning in both positive and negative ways. After it I uses the narrative mentioned above to compare with Carthage's article to express the contradictions between the ideas of those two articles, which further comes out the clear analysis of teaching methods of the second language and how that could improve. In the last session, I do a lot of research on different concepts and methods of teaching second languages and how students react to it. I try to relate the different concepts and methods to the cultural and studying habits for Chinese students that could possibly come out the best method for second language learner in China.
I really enjoy share these information with you! Multilingualism is not only a way of mixing languages but also provide you with a better view of the world and cultural secrets behind. Teaching students to be multilingual is an essential job indeed and this is basically what I am focused on.
